Medway Council's budget for 2018/19 will prioritise both its regeneration programme and supporting vulnerable people living in the community.
With Medway's housing target set for providing 29,000 new homes by 2035, £27 million of the council’s capital programme, over the medium term, will be used to strengthen and support four key regeneration sites: Rochester Riverside, Chatham Waterfront, Strood Riverside and the Innovation Park Medway.
Work has started on a number of new developments across Medway, including Rochester Riverside which will provide 1,400 new homes, as well as a school and hotel.
Councillors also approved a rent decrease of 1% for the housing stock, with £1 million used to provide council housing for vulnerable Medway residents.
