Community garden opens in Mayfair

A new residentsí "urban garden" has opened in Stroodís Mayfair area.
A joint effort between Medway Council, Kent Police, Streetcops Trust and the Community Payback team, the new communual space opened on 5 August as a safe and educational space for children and young people to use.
Local residents will be taking care of its upkeep going forward. The opening was celebrated with a community street party, with Councillor Rupert Turpin in attendance.
Praising the new project, he said: “Our community wardens do a brilliant job all year round, and this is a good example of action they have taken after listening to residents’ concerns. We hope this project will provide an enjoyable environment for families to spend time together. Thank you for everyone who has donated items to make this project possible.”
