Medway Council has said the process to determine the best solution to prevent flooding at Strood Riverside is almost complete.
The authority was awarded £4 million from the Public Works Loan Board in May 2014 to undertake flood mitigation work to ready the site for development.
Once the best course of action is decided, the authority will seek further engineering consultancy support to work up the preferred solution through to the development of a planning application. It will then seek a preparatory engineering works contract.
A further update on the project is due in September, when an update on the process of selecting a developer for the site will be provided.
All opportunities associated with Strood Riverside will be advertised on the Kent Business Portal.
