Strood works gain momentum

Strood town centre improvement works are continuing, with new landmarks reached.
Work has started on the Station Road/Commercial Road junction – with the addition of a larger pedestrian island, as well as the planting of more trees and installation of extra lights to create a gateway feature.
The Commercial Road car park, Tolgate Lane and Strood market upgrade were completed last summer and celebrated with a free family fun day. Key changes to road layouts and crossing points at the junction with Commercial Road and Knight Road have been put in place, as well as along the High Street.
Future works are set to complete the town’s upgrade with a newly resurfaced High Streeet, improved road layouts and pedestrian access, as well as more planting, seating and cycle facilities.
The improvements have been funded from the government’s Local Growth Fund (LGF) through the South East Local Enterprise Partnership.
