More businesses were launched in Medway than in any area of Kent in 2014, a recent survey has found.
Medway's entrepreneurs are flourishing according to figures released by Companies House. 1,888 companies were registered in Medway in 2014, and 13,223 were registered in the Kent as a whole.
The region’s educational institutes have contributed to the growth of start-up businesses, with measures in place to help entrepreneurs graduating from Medway-based universities such as Canterbury Christchurch and the University of Kent.
The latter launched its Enterprise Hub in 2010 as a place for students, staff and alumni to set up new businesses.
Since then, 74 start-ups have been created, which employ 138 people and are contributing £3.9 million to the local economy.
