Heart of Medway housing association, part of the MHS Homes group, is set to expand its operations beyond the area’s borders for the first time in its 25-year history.
More than 300 homes will be built in Maidstone over the next four years, with 136 homes currently being developed across three sites, adding to MHS Homes’ Medway portfolio of almost 150 development sites.
The Maidstone schemes will be based at the former council offices in Tonbridge Road, scheduled for completion next autumn.
Ashley Hook, chief executive of MHS Homes, said: “This is an exciting time for Heart of Medway with three Maidstone developments scheduled for completion in 2015/16.
“It’s a great opportunity to provide good quality affordable homes to rent or buy for more local people in the Kent area.”
The housing association received grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency earlier this year, which has gone towards funding these schemes.
