Locate in Kent, the investment promotion agency for Kent and Medway, has revealed that a high number of companies have chosen to retain or relocate their services in the region.
The company said it had recorded 2,762 jobs that it has directly created, retained or indirectly created in the area, with 452 of these on Medway. These were recorded from 56 companies committing to relocate or expand in the region.
Locate in Kent has aimed to increase the number of jobs created by Foreign Direct Investment – overseas companies setting up operations or expanding in the area, and said 820 jobs came about as a result of this.
Paul Wookey, Chief Executive of Locate in Kent, said the figures reflected increased confidence and growth in the UK economy, and listed the Innovation Centre Medway as an example of one of the region’s “great offering of ICT and life sciences companies”.
