Go-ahead for Gillingham flats scheme

Medway Council's planning committee has approved plans for a three-storey block of flats at the junction of Jeffrey Street and Sappers Walk in Gillingham.

Hurstglen Properties' proposals include undercroft car parking at ground-floor level, five two-bedroomed flats on the first floor and four two-bedroomed flats on the second floor.

Planning officers recommended the scheme for approval, pointing out that it had been referred to councillors for a decision because of the prominence of the site.

“The proposal is considered acceptable in terms of design; impact on the street scene, amenity and highway aspects and with regard to all other material planning considerations subject to the conditions recommended,” they said.
