Countryside Properties' Horsted Park development has been named "housing project of the year" by the judges of a prestigious construction-sector award.
The 337-home development, which is set in 6 acres of parkland half-way between Rochester and Chatham town centres, was praised for its landscaping and use of traditional local construction styles at the Building Awards 2013.
Tony Travers, managing director of Countryside’s new homes and communities division, said the accolade was a fitting tribute for Horsted Park.
“In conjunction with architects, Proctor and Matthews, we’ve taken great care to create a development that reflects local building methods,” he said.
“Our vision was to create a collection of homes where everyone would feel welcome and where the design reflects the style of traditional Kent farmsteads.
“The homes are arranged around a series of squares and courtyards to provide shelter, open spaces and a comfortable domestic environment.”
