Checking in to Medway

Two years ago Medway had no major hotels. Now there's the prospect of a £50m investment on five sites.
Plans for two new Medway hotels have been given the go-ahead recently.
One application is for a five-storey, 110-bed hotel site on Corporation Street, Rochester. The other is for a 121-bed Premier Inn at Medway Valley Park in Strood.
In September, Berkeley First sold a 120-bed hotel site at its Victory Pier development in Gillingham to Geminex Hotels and Leisure. This follows the success of the 90-bed Ramada Encore at Chatham Maritime.
Longer term, there are plans for quality hotels on Rochester Riverside and Chatham Waterfront.
