Developer Peel Land and Property has submitted an outline planning application to Medway Council for a mixed use redevelopment scheme on part of Chatham Docks.
The proposed Chatham Waters scheme would provide around 1.9 million sq feet of offices, education facilities, a hotel, plus homes and a food store.
The planning application follows a public consultation event during September, which found that 90 per cent of respondents supported the scheme.
James Whittaker, development director at Peel said, “The feedback we received at the public consultation was invaluable and we are very pleased that so many people were supportive of our plans for Chatham Waters.
"We have taken the comments received on board and are pleased to have submitted a planning application to the council.”
Indigo Planning, Planit-ie, Traffic Transport and Highway Consultancy and 5 Plus Architects are all advising Peel on the scheme.
