Ryanair boss brands estuary airport idea as "nuts"

Wed 4 May 2011, 3:46 pm

The controversial boss of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary, has slammed proposals for a new airport in the Thames Estuary as “absolutely nuts”.

O’Leary said that the plans – championed by London mayor Boris Johnson – would cost millions of pounds and would be a white elephant.

He said that the South East urgently needed more runways at the existing airports at Luton, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and London City.
