Aviation group calls for Cliffe airport

Plans for an airport at Cliffe, north Kent Hoo peninsula, should be revived following the Christmas air chaos, according to an independent aviation group.(Sourced from Financial Times.)
 

 

The group, led by former Cathay Pacific commercial director John Olsen, is urging the government look again at the proposals, which were dropped in 2003 on the grounds of bad value for money.
But the group claims the project would be more practical and cheaper than London mayor Boris Johnson’s idea for an island airport in the Thames estuary.
